Words by Abbi Wharton

Words

Words, words-

they can mean so much.

Short or long

they are as

strong as a double edged sword.

They can cut and

they can sting.

They can paint and

they can photograph.

They can be quiet

or loud or peaceful.

Maybe protesting

and angry.

Words, words-

they can mean

so much.

So we must be

careful with words

for they are

double edged swords.

A Harry Potter Day Dream by Abbi Wharton

There is a magical place

where playing with sticks is encouraged.

Where children are taught

to ride brooms, not bikes

and Halloween gives a new fright.

There is a world where

stories come true.

Where fairies and pixies

really can sabotage

that missing homework.

Where elves help out

and cook your food.

A world where dishes

wash themselves

and gnomes are the problems

not moles or shrews.

There is a place

where a true hero is

a small boy

protected by his mother’s love,

marked forever by a little scar.

So take care children,

Don’t get lost

In this wonderful world ,

Just beware the nargles

and a small poltergeist.

Don’t forget your wand

and don’t forget your

memories.

For happiness is nearby

if one remembers

to turn on the light.

Dedicated to my Harry Potter fan fic fans

Jaywalk by Abbi Wharton

Jaywalk

There is a road ‘tween you and me.

I don’t like it as you’ll see.

How did it get here?

Why is it near?

This road keeps me away.

This road keeps me at bay.

Did you put it there?

Do you wish me to beware?

There is no crosswalk.

All I see is a roadblock.

Does your heart hurt?

Are you ‘fraid of getting burnt?

All I have to say-

is I’ll get to you anyway.

Baby you can’t keep me away.

This road won’t keep me at bay.

No crosswalk to you?

I’ll jaywalk! It’s true!

I’m gonna jaywalk myself right over to you.

I’m gonna make you woo.

‘Cause baby, I love you.

It’s true.

I’ll jaywalk this road ‘tween me and you.

Inspired by some old songs by Fats Domino that I listened to the other day...I'm Walkin and Blueberry Hill

No Such Thing as Goodbye by Abbi Wharton

Something I wrote as I moved. It is the truth, through and through.

No Such Thing as Goodbye

Tears and hugs, pain and sorrow, but what good will it do? We can’t cling forever or hold on to what we love.

Why do we make such a fuss about this when there is no such thing as goodbye?

Real friends, true friends, heart and soul friends, the friends of mine, I keep in my heart for each and every day.

I think of you in prayer and in every little moment.

I wonder about how you feel.

Real friends, true friends, heart and soul friends, the friends of mine, I can never forget.

The friends that you are, my friends of mine, I will never lose touch with.

You friends of mine I will see again.

I say will, not might, because it will happen.

Real friends, true friends, heart and soul friends, the friends of mine, love ties me too you and helps me through each and every day.

There is no such thing as goodbye my friends, it is only a see you later.
